On the 2nd of June 2026, NeGen-SOS Principal Investigator Stefania Vicari delivered a keynote at the conference Illness Narrative Retold – Diversity, Temporality, and Digitization – at Aarhus University.
Stefania presented findings from NeGen-SOS’ sister project Previvorship and concluded her talk with an open question on the shape and values of illness narratives in contemporary social media economies.
Angela Woods, Professor of Medical Humanities at Durham University, also delivered a fantastic keynote on the role of scribes and chat bots in and outside the clinic, which resonated with some of our conversations with participants from Previvorship and planted the seeds for new conversations with our advisory board and future participants.
The conference was kindly organised by Carsten Stage and Ann-Katrine Schmidt Nielsen, as the conclusion of their project “Genetic hauntings. Pre-patient narratives in the era of direct-to-consumer genetic testing”.
